More and more, brands are choosing to create brand films over traditional commercials for their products. Social media has pushed modern audiences to crave more authenticity. Brands now need to capture their identity in an engaging, exciting and novel way — without compromising their central message. Let us help you with creating your brand film with a few tips on how to make a powerful brand film! 1. Always Reinforce the Mission Statement Every successful company in the world is guided by a mission. Depending on your brand, the mission statement can vary, but at the heart of every one is an appeal to emotion that transcends logic or processes. It is this emotion that will be at the center of your video production. 2. Creative Cohesion is Better Than Bold Novelty For better or worse, every brand gravitates toward an aesthetic when creating content. Everything you do when working on a brand film, from color grade to music selection needs to reinforce your established, or desired, brand identity or personality. 3. Don’t Undervalue Custom Graphics The importance of graphics that reinforce the brand can’t be overstated. While it may seem pedantic to focus so heavily on graphics, they are usually the last thing your audience sees before making a commitment to visiting your website, following you on social media or ultimately supporting your brand. 4. Play Into Your Creative Strengths Creating a brand film, assumably can be pricey. Don't be discouraged, when produced correctly a ROI will be attached and it's worth the investment . The most important part is being able to shine light on your brand personality through your vision and differentiators. Google announced the Topics API, its replacement for FLoC (which was a replacement for third-party cookies). You can learn more about the proposal in our coverage linked above, but here’s the TL;DR: The Topics API will select topics of interest, based on the user’s browsing history, and share those topics with participating sites for advertising purposes. Up to five topics can be associated with a browser, and the API will share up to three of those with a site. Topics are stored for three weeks, with topic selection occurring on the device. Topics is launching with 300 topics. “This is a starting point; we could see this getting into the low thousands or staying in the hundreds [of topics],” said Ben Galbraith, Chrome product director. Most of the reactions seem to be about the death of FLoC instead of the introduction of Topics. But, this new targeting methodology is sure to present new challenges and considerations for advertisers.

We hear these 5 objections on almost every sales call 1. SEO doesn’t work. 2. SEO takes too long to bring results. 3. We will never rank on the front page. 4. I can do SEO in house for cheaper. 5. SEO is unpredictable. Our agency can help you develop a themed keyword strategy that will help you bring in qualified traffic. Build your website’s authority by starting with longer search terms, then move toward keywords with higher search volume to target prospective customers in various stages of the sales funnel. In the meantime, searchers who want your product will be ushered toward your website, leading to increased revenue from qualified traffic. WHAT IT TAKES Proprietary technology, AI-driven tools, research and development teams, and a large portfolio of other accounts to validate results, DIY isn’t always the cheapest or the best way to get the most impactful results. Search engine algorithms are constantly changing, and no one can predict with complete certainty how, and when, they will be adjusted. When the only constant is change, will your website be able to keep up? Hiring an SEO agency is an investment Choose a team who is invested in your success. Don’t hire an agency to make quick fixes, but to be an integral part of your marketing department that leverages actionable data to improve the aspects of your website that contribute to your bottom line.

If your business lives and dies by Google search engine results -- if you at least in part make money based on Google search results -- this news is for you. Google just announced it is in the process of implementing a major change to its core search algorithm that could change results rankings for up to one in 10 queries. Yep: one in 10. Which might not sound like much--unless your inbound traffic, and resulting sales and revenue, dips by 10 percent. The change is based on a simple premise. In the past, Google's algorithm treated a search sentence as a "bag of words." It picked out what it considered to be the important words--in "who is a great keynote speaker," clearly "keynote" and "speaker" are more important than "is" and "a." But doing so eliminates context from a search sentence's intent. One example from Google's announcement: Say you enter the search sentence "can you get medicine for someone pharmacy?" The old algorithm picked out "medicine" and "pharmacy" and returned local results under the assumption you are looking for a nearby drugstore. Google's new algorithm notices "for someone" and determines you're looking for information about whether you're allowed to pick up someone else's prescription for them. Same search query. Very different results. The new algorithm is based on something called BERT, or "bidirectional encoder representations from transformers." (Yep: BERT is a lot better.) In the simplest terms I can come up with, BERT is a tool that helps optimize natural language processing by using A.I. and a massive data set to deliver better contextual results. Or in even simpler terms, it better understands what you're actually looking for when you enter a search query. Schedule a short meeting so we can show you how this has effected your site rankings and how we can help if it had a negative impact.

We hear this all the time from new clients. Of course, price isn’t the only dimension you want to consider when you’re evaluating your website platform options. But we’ve discussed the differences in terms of design freedom, content management, and hosting elsewhere. Lets take a closer look at just how quickly “free” WordPress can become “spendy” WordPress in terms of both tangible costs like: Hosting Plugins Themes And more intangible costs, such as: Security Platform and plugin updates Performance As you read, keep in mind that WordPress comes in two flavors: hosted, and self-hosted. Throughout this post, we’ll focus on comparing the hosted version. WordPress hosting If you’re launching your site on a custom domain via WordPress.com (the hosted version), costs range from $5–25 USD a month, billed annually. That’s $60–300 USD a year. Plugin costs for WordPress There’s a plugin (or twelve) to solve most any challenge you might face with WordPress, typically ranging from simple but limited free options all the way to advanced, developer-focused premium solutions in the hundreds. So for this section, I’ve focused on the most popular plugin options for a few must-have areas of functionality, based on both personal experience (yes, I’ve built WordPress sites!) and a trawl of popular WordPress-focused blogs. Jetpack (performance, security, and support): $39–299 USD annually Yoast (SEO): $0–89 annually WPForms or Gravity Forms (forms, natch): $39–600 annually Advanced Custom Fields (CMS/structured content): $0–100 annually MonsterInsights (analytics): $0–800 annually Sucuri (security): $0-500 annually A visual builder (Divi, Elegant, Elementor): $49–399 annually And you know what? There are literally hundreds of other options out there, but I’m going to stop right there. We’re already at $68–2,388 annually, bringing our running totals to: Webflow Hosting + Designer + CMS = $192–420 USD annually The cost of themes/templates anyone who’s experienced WordPress theme uncertainty knows, the ability to just swap between themes is more of an ideal than a reality. We believe that design and content should work together seamlessly — that is, content isn’t ever one-size-fits-all.) With that out of the way, here’s the pricing breakdown: WordPress theme : $0–175* Intangible costs of WordPress WordPress is routinely cited for its issues in three key areas that I refer to as intangibles — though their effects on your business could be anything but intangible when you take into account very real issues like brand damage, slow loading times, and suboptimal user experience for those building and maintaining the affected sites. Those areas are: Security Platform and plugin updates Performance Security is probably the foremost problem area for WordPress. Historically, this has often been due to poor installation, maintenance, and updating practices on the part of the maintainers — because with WordPress, all of that work’s on you. And the truth is, according to a report by website security firm Sucuri — makers of one of the more popular WordPress security plugins — outdated installation is becoming less of an issue for WordPress sites. But WordPress sites still account for the vast majority of “remediation” requests they receive, with a whopping 83% of all requests. The costs of platform, theme, and plugin updates As a one-time WordPress fanboy, I can assure you that platform and plugin updates rank high amongst WP’s biggest headaches. Sometimes it felt like I had something to update every single time I logged into the dashboard, be it the core WordPress install or one to a dozen different plugins — oh yeah, and themes! This inevitably distracted me from the task I’d actually planned to tackle before logging in, be it making design updates, or drafting a new blog post. And then, of course, there’s the hassle of backing up your whole site before updating — a process WordPress left in the user’s hands for years before the latest incarnation of Jetpack. On top of that, you’d often discover in the process that some key plugin of yours had gone zombie (that is, wasn’t being maintained anymore), leaving you with the always-enjoyable task of having to find a (hopefully free!) replacement. The cost of (poor) WordPress performance Soooo … yeah, WordPress can cost As we’ve shown here, the cost of WordPress may start at free — but it shoots up dramatically from there, especially for non-personal sites. And once you factor in less tangible costs like maintenance, security, and performance, the landscape gets not only pricey, but also incredibly complicated.

SEO should be on the list of your New Year resolutions because these 3 mythical letters have stopped being a buzzword years ago. Let's face the fact — in 2019, SEO is not a nice addition to your business, it's a must. 1. SEO lets you be where your customers are Like it or not, but traditional forms of marketing like print advertising, television, radio, etc. have kind of lost their power. They have become some sort of white noise nobody pays attention to. That's why people are turning their heads to Google — it lets them find what they are searching for in a flash of a second. So I think it's only natural that people use Google as a starting point for product research . 2. SEO helps you build your brand Unless you are a company like Apple, it's not likely potential buyers are typing in your brand name while searching for your products or services, agree? In the real world, they are more likely to search for some products or services related to your business. And of course, you want your website to appear as high in the search results as possible. The thing is, searchers may not admit it, but they definitely make mental notes of the rankings for their queries. It may seem like a huge prejudice, but the majority of them do associate higher rankings with higher credibility of this or that source, which is kinda the right way to think. That is why SEO is exactly what can help boost your website's credibility in the eyes of potential consumers. 3. SEO influences almost every aspect of your business There's a popular misconception that SEO can only boost your rankings, and there's no point for businesses that don't pursue this goal to do SEO. Well, this has nothing to do with the real state of things, let me say. The truth is, SEO influences a huge variety of things, which makes it the smartest marketing investment you can ever make. First and foremost, SEO has a massive impact on how your brand is perceived by the audience and your business' reputation . The thing is, online reviews are a huge part of SEO. According to the BrightLocal’s 2017 Local Consumer Review survey , 97% of customers do read reviews when searching for something. And 85% claim that they tend to trust online reviews just as much as they would trust personal recommendations. 4. SEO improves your website As you may know, Google is quite choosy and demanding when it comes to the ranking process. It constantly raises its standards so that only high-quality sites rank on top positions. As a matter of fact, business owners who are not involved in SEO, don't really bother with following Google's guidelines or running deep website audits. And getting into SEO definitely makes you take a close look at your site and enforce its security, user experience, and technical aspects. By taking care of these things, you can significantly improve your website as well as receive some pleasant side effects in the form of traffic, conversions, and sales.

Reputation management is the art of controlling what people see when they search for you on Google, as well as how you respond to what people are saying about you. And since the internet is a huge place, there’s a lot that goes into it. Reputation management includes everything from optimizing your SEO strategy so that the right sites appear in search results, to the way you respond to customer reviews. Does it Really Matter? Yes, reputation management absolutely matters. We all know how important it is to make a good first impression, and many times a customer’s first impression of you is going to be what they see when they Google your business. When people want to learn about something, they search for it online. And for the most part, anyone can say whatever they’d like about you at any given time on the internet – even if it isn’t entirely true. So you need to take steps that ensure people will see information that portrays your business the way you want it to be seen. Because it’s so important, every business big or small needs to have a strategy in place for managing their reputation online. Here are the essential steps you should take to ensure your reputation is protected online.

Most of our clients know reviews are essential, but how do you collect favorable ones? When a customer is using a search engine like google to look for their products or services, online reviews are one of the first things they look at. This perception of your brand is referred to as your online reputation. Data reveals reviews are a crucial factor in determining your local search rankings. Your online reputation is an ongoing task that requires proactive maintenance. While it can be overwhelming, here are a few tips to help you create a fantastic reputation! Getting Started Cultivating an excellent online reputation may seem like a lot of work upfront but following a few of these simple techniques can help you get started! After you have sold a product or completed a service, you have less than one week to solicit feedback. There are multiple approaches to get someone to leave you some positive feedback. We can develop a customer feedback program that works along with gathering your customer's name, phone number, and email address. Where to Send Customers So, you now know how to ask for reviews but how do you know where to send them to? Review sites have a major impact on customer decisions, so you want to send them where it will help your online reputation the most! The top major review platforms are Google My Business, Facebook, Yelp and YP (Yellow Pages). Online reviews are said to make up at least 10% of how Google and other search engines rank results, which makes Google My Business your number one place to send your customers to leave feedback! However, if your customers do not have a Gmail account it is recommended you send them to Facebook, Yelp! Or YP as backups. Customers will need to have accounts with the aforementioned platforms to leave reviews. Maintenance You may be wondering, “Now that I’ve solicited and received reviews, is my work done yet?” Not yet! Your online reputation is an ongoing project that requires maintenance and consistent monitoring. You will need to continue to solicit new reviews so that your online reputation stays fresh and competitive. If you only have reviews that were posted 6 months to a year ago, they don’t hold as much credibility as a recent review. The goal of a steady stream of reviews is to display how great your products or services are continuous. You will also want to take a proactive approach to manage your online reputation as well. With the positive always comes to the negative reviews. Every once in a while, a negative review will surface, it happens. You don’t want to ignore it; you want to take control of the situation to manage what people are saying about you. Always be sure to respond within

We find that many of our clients think the more content they have, the better our search rankings will be. However, search engines know better than that, and you should always choose quality over quantity. Always. What is high-quality content? Content isn’t just frequently updating your website with blogs, videos or images. While that can be good for your website, search engines decide what makes your content worthy. Are you creating the same subject matter that is appearing on other sites? Is your content providing value? Is your content relatable and unique? Is it answering the questions that someone is searching for? Fresh, interesting, easy to read, and credible content with the right number of keywords impacts the quality of content. Remember, high-quality content provides a valuable experience to its’ visitors. How does this affect SEO? Search engines care about the user experience. Content that is well thought out, relatable, engaging and provides value to its readers leads to social media shares, backlinks, inbound links, higher visits and more, which leads to search engines ranking your content higher. When you share quality content that answers questions, it may get shared in blog posts, linked to in e-newsletters, quoted on other high-ranking sites which Google sees as trustworthy and worth sharing with those who are looking for answers. How do you develop high-quality content? With good content dominating search engines, you’ll need to invest time and money into developing high-quality copy. Think outside the box, use other creative tactics, and try to become an industry expert to be considered a reliable resource, which will then lead to higher search rankings.

Social media gaffes can significantly dilute a brand’s message and overall impact. Here are three common pitfalls to avoid. Social media can be tricky to manage well, especially for small businesses and contractors who are strapped for time and resources. In an effort to keep the online content flowing, many well-intentioned individuals and organizations commit common social media gaffes that can significantly dilute a brand’s message and overall impact. Here are three common pitfalls to avoid: Mixing Personal and Professional Posts Social media posts should have warmth and personality–but they also need to remain on-brand. So, while light-hearted posts about an in-office pet, team-building activity, or other day-to-day (safe for work) color commentary are great ways to add life to a work-based handle, you should be careful to keep personal posts far from your work feed. For example, the owner’s vacation, family or pet pics generally don’t belong on a work handle (unless they directly relate to brand news/identity.) Typos and Sloppy Writing While social media is generally a more casual way to market your brand than some other traditional channels, typos and sloppy writing always reflect poorly on your brand. Proofread all posts before they go live and ask for a second pair of eyes on any important content. Publish a mistake? Don’t panic: Most platforms (Facebook, Instagram and others) allow you to quickly edit your post without deleting it or losing likes. The Same Content on Every Handle We get it–you’re really busy. And many platforms offer the tempting option to automatically push content to one handle to another (so for instance, to duplicate all your Facebook posts to Twitter). However, this trick is apparent to users in the look and URLs used in those automated posts, and many consumers find it annoying. While you may occasionally have posts that works well across several platforms, it’s generally much better for engagement to optimize your social media content for each platform. It’s better to manage 1-2 platforms well than to be obviously spread too thin everywhere.
